This allows organisations to highlight trends and opportunities for future growth, improving efficiency across all areas. As a result, a customer-first organisation is forged, focusing on quality service.
The ISO 9001 requirements are expanded in 10 clauses, further divided into mandatory and non-mandatory requirements. The organisation must meet the mandatory requirements to become certified. The requirements of ISO 9001 help to ensure that the organisation successfully implement the QMS. The first three clauses comprise of the scope statement, the references and the terms of the ISO 9001 standard.
These are categorised as non-mandatory requirements; however, they provide useful information to the organisation, explaining terminology related to quality management. Closest 4 to 10 covers seven aspects of the organisation that a mandatory. When these clauses are appropriately adopted within the organisation, it provides a framework that allows efficient planning, implementation and evaluation of the QMS.The ISO 9001 clauses are:

The sixth clause provides a framework for documenting opportunities and risks within the organisation. This section also covers how management system objectives should be set and how plans should be made to achieve them.
The aim of this clause is to ensure that the organisation is in a position to deliver a successful quality management system by allocating the adequate resources. This section focuses on people in the working environment. Additionally, by studying the interaction between the people and the working environment, it enhances processes for monitoring and building the QMS. This section also deals with embedding the quality management processes within the organisation in an organic manner. Focusing on different communication channels allows the organisation to adopt the quality management system completely.
